LB shut out Natalia
KARNES CITY – It took two innings before the Hallettsville Lady Brahma bats got going and when they did, the rout was on.
The LB defeated Natalia, 10-0, Thursday at Badger Field in a regional playoff game.
Grace Halata (11-1) pitched the five innings in run-rule victory and gave up two hits, fanned three and walked one. The Mustangs did not advance a runner past first base.
Hallettsville (34-2) had 13 hits, all of which were singles.
The LB defense turned a double play when third baseman Carson Jansky snagged a line drive and doubled the runner off first base.
Two runs scored in the first frame. Lead off hitter Hanna Zachary went all the way to second on an error and scored when Kaylie Olivarez grounded out. Macie Jansky, who had singled, scored when Ella Amsden singled up the middle, one of three hits she had in the contest.
After a scoreless second inning, Hallettsville batted around plus two and scored six runs on seven hits and a bases on balls in the third frame.
The LB hit five singles in a row with Macie Jansky and Olivarez knocking in runs. Carson Jansky singled and Halata flied out to center for a run. Macey Pustka and Zachary collected RBI with base hits for an 8-0 lead.
Madison Mikes singled in the fifth, but was erased on a fielder’s choice by Zachary. Zachary scored on a wild pitch and a base hit by Olivarez drove in the 10th run of the game.
