Wilson ties school record

EL MATON - Jorian Wilson tied the school record for home runs in a season in the Hallettsville Brahmas’ 16-6 win in six innings over the Tidehaven Tigers in a District 25-AAA game Friday.

Wilson tied the record which was set by Eric Bludau in 1997 with his eighth and ninth home runs.

Wilson hit a two-run homer in the first inning and a solo home run in the sixth. He also hit a double.

The Brahmas (12-4, 4-1) made good use of three Tidehaven errors and 10 bases on balls.

The Brahmas scored three runs in the first inning, 4 in the second and seven in the third for an 11-3 lead.

Hallettsville had 10 hits. Wilson was three-for four and scored five runs and Monte Thigpen had two hits in three trips to the plate.

Hudson Chenard (5-0) threw the full six innings and ceded nine hits, two walks and struck out three. Three of the Tigers’ runs were unearned.

Tanner Cliffe hit a grand slam home run the the Brahmas’ rout of Rice Consolidated in Altair Tuesday, March 19.

Konnor Kopecky was the starting winning pitcher for the Brahmas and went three innings. He gave up two hits, walked two and recorded 7 strikeouts.

Cliffe finished up and allowed one hit and walked one.

The Brahmas collected 13 hits and batters received 10 walks.

Andrew George went three-for-four and drove in.
