Brahmas fade in final minute

Just three days after Hallettsville had upset Rice consolidated, the Brahmas did an about-face in losing to rival Yoakum here Friday night, 45-43. The Brahmas frittered away a three-point lead in the final 1:04 of the fourth quarter with turnovers the main culprit.

LB extend win streak to 12

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas' win streak extended to 12 games at the expense of the Yoakum Lady bulldogs in a 53-28 victory here Friday night. Adalyn Pohl tied a career-high with 22 points as Hallettsville advanced to 28-5 overall and 10-1 in league play.

Lady Brahmas gain tie for first with 63-40 verdict over Edna

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas waited 38 days to avenge the 59-31 loss to Edna in Edna Dec. 12. The wait was well worth it as the LB rolled to a 63-40 victory over Edna to gain a tie for first place with the Cowgirls in District 25-AAA here Friday night.

Resurgent Brahmas extend win streak to three

Hallettsville lost its first two 25-AAA games but since have won three in a row. The Brahmas (8-12, 3-2) defeated Industrial at home and Tidehaven in El Maton Friday. The Brahma defense strangled Industrial in the second quarter, holding the Cobras to zero points in the 54-34 victory Tuesday, Jan.

Macy garners 1,000th rebound in win over Cobras

Macy Herring made history in the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas’ 43- 34 District 25-AAA win over Vanderbilt Industrial here Tuesday, Jan. 9. Herring, a senior post, garnered her 1,000th career rebound to go along with 19 points in the victory.

Lady Brahmas begin soccer season

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas’ 2024 soccer season began Thursday in the Yoakum Tournament. The tournament ran through Saturday. The LB lost to El Campo 3-0 in the first match Thursday and then tied Caldwell 1-1, with Jordan Whitley scoring the goal. Friday, Hallettsville and Yoakum tied 0-0.

Brahmas get much-needed victory

A loss to Columbus here Friday night would have put the Hallettsville Brahmas in dire straits. But the Brahmas managed a 63-56 double overtime victory over the Cardinals in a 25-AAA game for their first district victory.

Lady Brahmas victors over Columbus

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas have never beaten Columbus during coach Hunter Hlavaty’s tenure. Friday night in the HHS Gym, the Lady Brahmas (22-4, 4-1) held off the defending district champion Lady Cardinals, 53-47. The LB had what seemed to be a safe 45-34 lead going into the fourth quarter.

Brahmas go 3-for-4 in S'burg

SCHULENBURG – The Hallettsville Brahmas went three up and one down in the Schulenburg Tournament last Wednesday and Thursday. The lone loss came in the Brahmas’ final game of the tournament Thursday, 63-54, to Hempstead.

Lady Brahmas defeat Bears for east chambers tourney title

WINNIE – The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas atoned for an earlier loss to Little Cypress Mauriceville by defeating the Bears, 39-25, in the championship game of the East Chambers Holiday Classic Friday. The LB had lost to the Bears, 38-33, in the first game of the tournament Wednesday.
