Indianettes garner third place in Yorktown

The Sacred Heart Indianettes garnered third place in the Yorktown Tournament over the weekend.“This was a good tournament for us,” Indianette head coach Wanda Orsak said. “We just have to learn how to close out tight sets.

Sacred Heart in first XC meet

YOAKUM – Sacred Heart competed in its first cross country meet of the season Saturday morning.The Indians were sixth with Ty Lewis having the best finish at seventh place. Ryan Janak finished 18th, Kolby Haas 50th, Trent Sevcik 59th and Ben Meinkowsky 62nd.The Indianettes had three runners compete.

Tribe has good scrimmage vs. Pettus

Coach Rodney Dowell’s first look at his Sacred Heart Indians was satisfactory.The Indians outscored Pettus, 4-2, here Thursday. The score was a combined JV and varsity.The Indians accumulated 326 yards total offense - 210 rushing, 125 passing.

Sacred Heart Indianette coach Wanda Orsak said her team had some highs and lows in the scrimmage at Yoakum Friday.“We looked really good against Shiner and Austin Hyde Park, but were sluggish against Yoakum - they played at a faster pace than us.

The Sacred Heart Indianettes started practice Monday morning with 27 players.“I thought the girls came out with a positive and work-hard attitude,” head coach Wanda Orsak said. “Five seniors will lead us and a lot younger talent to fill spots.

Dowell conducts first practice

The Sacred Heart Indians hit the practice field for the first time Monday morning with 28 players attending the first practice.Also known as the “Blue Wave,” the Indians will run the Gun Wing T offense this fall.

Practice for fall sports begins

Football, volleyball, and cross country practice begins Aug. 4 for local high schools next week.Wanda Orsak begins here 35th year as the head coach of Sacred Heart volleyball.Orsak will have to replace Annika Brooks who signed with Blinn College.
