As summer vacation comes to an end for students, the 2024-25 school year will beginning for area schools with some starting this week and the remainder next week.Whether a motorist, student or pedestrian, school zone safety is of utmost importance as the new school year starts.

For at least the next two years, the Shiner Comanches football team will play in 2ADII following the UIL realignment and reclassification in February.The Comanches were placed in 15-2ADII alongside Falls City, Charlotte, Louise, Pettus and Yorktown.

Three Shiner Comanche baseball players were selected to the 2024 Texas Sports Writers Association 2A All-State Baseball Team.Sophomore Landyn Pohler was named Honorable Mention Pitcher. Junior Carson Schuette was selected as Honorable Mention Shortstop.

Shiner graduate and University of Texas Permian Basin baseball player Drew Wenske saw action in about 21 games in his freshman year (2024) for the Falcons.Listed as a utility player on the official roster, Wenske mainly pitched for UTPB.
