SISD approves tax cut for 2022-23 fiscal year

Despite seeing across-the-board cost increases on everything the district needs to run a school, to the tune of about a 14% increase over what those same items cost this year, the board of directors voted Monday night to lower taxes for district taxpayers in the coming year.

Shiner Football: Hallettsville 14, Shiner 7

Hallettsville’s Damarion Austin’s 32-yard run with just 10 minutes left in the third quarter broke a 7-7 tie and was the difference in the Shiner Comanches falling a little short at Hallettsville, 14-7, to open the 2022 season.

Shiner public schools earn A rating from the state

Shiner public schools landed one more thing to brag about when the Texas Education Agency (TEA) released its official school ratings on Monday. That’s because Shiner earned a score of 96 when those ratings were released on Aug. 15.

Shiner volleyball: Lady Comanches beat Edna, SH in non-district

The Lady Comanches won back-to-back non district games in a four-set win over Edna  Aug. 16 and over Sacred Heart at home on Aug. 23. Shiner 3, Edna 1 Julie Ivy and Rylee Vancura combined for 27 kills to lead Shiner to a 3-1 (25-19, 25-15, 16-25, 25-15) win on the road vs Edna Aug.16.
