Shiner volleyball: Lady Comanches beat Edna, SH in non-district

The Lady Comanches won back-to-back non district games in a four-set win over Edna  Aug. 16 and over Sacred Heart at home on Aug. 23. Shiner 3, Edna 1 Julie Ivy and Rylee Vancura combined for 27 kills to lead Shiner to a 3-1 (25-19, 25-15, 16-25, 25-15) win on the road vs Edna Aug.16.

Football: Cards host Flatonia; Shiner at Hallettsville

Cross country: Shiner, St. Paul run in Yoakum

Area football: Comanches battle Tidehaven, SP scrimmage NS

Shiner volleyball: Lady Comanches win runner up at home tournament

The Shiner Lady Comanches won runner up in their home tournament last Friday and Saturday. Juniors Aimee Mitchon and Rylee Vancura were named to the All-Tournament team. Bracket Play Shiner 2, Hallettsville 1 The Lady Comanches beat Hallettsville in three games in the Gold Bracket semifinals.

Shiner Volleyball: Lady Comanches go 1-1 in tri match at Yoakum

Shiner played its first official match of the season as they split the Aug. 10 tri match at Yoakum against Gonzales and the Lady Bulldogs. The Lady Comanches took down Gonzales 3-1 (25-18, 25-16, 24-26, 25-20) and lost to Yoakum in four games, 25-17, 22-25, 25-12 and 25-19.

Shiner FFA returns energized from state convention Fort Worth

Shiner FFA officers returned recently from the 94th annual Texas FFA convention held at the historic Fort Worth Stockyard District, where student leaders from across Lavaca County and the Lone Star State spent an entire week of July 11-15 immersed in all things FFA.
