Shiner, SP fall sports practices start soon

Football, volleyball and cross-country workouts kick off next Monday for Shiner and Shiner St. Paul. Shiner Football The Comanches will meet at 8 a.m. Monday in the football locker room to issue equipment and make sure all players have all the necessary paperwork.

Shiner Mini Cheer camp held in late June

The SHS Cheer Squads hosted mini-cheer camp June 27-29 in the SHS Gym. 90 participants learned  new cheers and dances for the upcoming football season.

Shiner Cheer Camp

The Shiner High School cheer squads attended UCA Summer Home Camp at the SHS Gym on June 20-22. UCA Instructors Angel and Keely taught various cheers, sidelines, dances, and stunts.  All three squads earned a Superior Trophy and can't wait to cheer on the Braves and Comanches this football season.

Shiner Track: Rainosek wins All-State track award

Shiner track athlete Riley Rainosek was named to the 2022 Texas Girls Coaches Association (TGCA) All-State Team.Rainosek helped the Lady Comanches win the district, area and regional titles. She competed at state in the 800-meter run and the mile-relay.

Shiner Lady Comanches Basketball: Camp held for future Lady Comanches

Shiner Baseball All District: Peterson, Wenske win MVP awards

The 2A state finalists Shiner Comanches won several spots on the 2022 2A-28 All-District Baseball team. Junior pitcher/infielder Ryan Peterson won Overall Most Valuable Player and junior infielder/pitcher Drew Wenske was selected as the Offensive MVP.

Schools discuss proactive approaches to student safety concerns

With the awful images of Uvalde still fresh on everyone’s minds, both Shiner and Moulton school board members took a good hard look at ways they could improve their respective campus safety and security measures when they met for their regularly monthly meetings this month.
