Shiner football: Comanches shut down Skidmore-Tynan 49-0

For just the second time this season and the first time in district, Shiner did not cede a single point on the scoreboard.

Shiner volleyball: Shiner has mostly-smooth sweep of Ganado

The Lady Comanches volleyball team looked to play a really crisp, error-free match. Their efforts paid off in a 25-12, 25-5, 25-15 win over Ganado at home Friday evening to put Shiner at 6-1 before they hosted Weimar this past Tuesday in senior night.

St. Paul cross country: Lady Cards win RTC meet

The St. Paul cross-country teams competed in the Round Top Annual Festival Hill meet on Oct. 8. Both varsity teams got top two with the Lady Cardinals taking first place.
Local historian Doug Kubicek and Shiner superintendent Alex Remschel gave us a tour of the Old Shiner Gym last week. Seen here on the old stage, the two are discussing what all still might need doing to make this a 100% usable facility as it was intended—replacing just one set of curtains for use on the stage runs in the tens of thousands of dollars, all the way around would run in the hundreds of thousands. Remschels said. Even more would be needed to bring the stage lighting up to snuff.
