Cards win finale 14-2

The St. Paul Cardinals scored 11 runs in the top of the second and downed Bulverde Bracken Christian 14-2 to wrap up the district and regular season on April 29. St. Paul opened with a 1-0 lead and Bracken got within 12-2 after the third inning. St.

Shiner sinks Bloomington 30-0

The Lady Comanches’ district away game at Bloomington April 19 was even more one-sided than the home game with Shiner taking a 30-0 win. The Lady Comanches scored 14 in the first inning, a dozen in the second and four more in the third inning.

Lavaca County has much riding on today’s elections

Moulton decides a school board seat. Shiner picks who will serve on its council. Yoakum chooses council members, too, for the first time in nearly two decades. And Hallettsville weighs in on both council and school board members, as well as a proposed $13.8 million school bond package.

Comanches beat Yoakum 2-1

YOAKUM — The score between Shiner and Yoakum would be irrelevant; the experience they got was not. The 28-2A champions Comanches worked hard to get a 2-1 win at 28-3A champion Yoakum in a playoff-warmup game for both teams Friday. “Win or lose, we knew we were going to get better playing this game.

Lady Cards place third at regionals

The St. Paul girls and boys track team each had at least a top-three finish at the regional meet April 27 in Waco. Girls The Lady Cardinals came in runner up with 141 points. 3200 — 2nd, Julie Davis, 13:29.67; 5th, Grace Pilat, 14:47.88. 800 — 2nd, Brooke Cerny, 2:29.38; 8th, Dallyn Pesek, 2:52.49.

Lady Comanches golf finish as state alternate; Beck Bishop advances to state as individual

The Lady Comanche golf team  is an alternate to the State Tournament after a fourth-place finish at the regional tournament held in Corpus Christi the week of April 18. The team carded a 419 on the first day and improved to 418 on the second day for a total score of 837.

St. Paul successfully rallies to defeat Sacred Heart

Down 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning, St. Paul senior Rayleigh Biehunko delivered a one-run single to score Ashlyn Pesek to tie the game before Tori Walker was intentionally walked to load the bases.

Lady Comanches oust Falls City in first-round game

MARION — Being able to adjust to a style different than one is used to will be one of the keys to advancing in the playoffs for the Shiner softball team. The Lady Comanches got the job done in their playoff opener April 27 in Marion against Falls City in a 10-3 win.
