Shiner boys basketball: Milano connects on triples to down Shiner 62-52 in playoffs

GIDDINGS — The Milano Eagles, from what Shiner saw, does not typically convert close to 10 treys a game.In the 2ADII bi district game at Buffalo Gymnasium in Giddings, Milano hit nine triples as they sent Shiner out of the playoffs with a 62-52 defeat.

Having the right mindset is important when you are in the postseason.St. Paul had the right perspective as they opened the playoffs with a 55-15 win over Beaumont Legacy Prep in a TAPPS 2A area-round game Feb. 18 at home.

Shiner football: Shiner football has four win TSWA All-State awards

The 2ADII state runner up Shiner Comanches had four players receive Texas Sports Writers Association All-State Football awards.Senior lineman Jared Werner and senior linebacker Kye Adamek  made First Team Defense.  Junior defensive back Jake Simper received First Team Defense.

Youth sports: Sweet Digs 12U youth volleyball team on a roll

The Sweet Digs 12U volleyball team has been making waves in local tournaments, with impressive finishes in both the APC Tournament and the Tiger Mania Tournament.

Shiner girls golf: LC golf team places sixth at Industrial

The Shiner Lady Comanches golf tournament had a team score of 452 to place sixth in the Industrial Cobra Invitational on Feb. 12.Callie Chrismon led Shiner with a total score of 102 and seventh place; Jaleigh Ramirez carded a 114 for No. 23. Olivia Akin placed No. 26 with 116.

Shiner football: Palmer returning to Pleasanton to lead Eagles football team

Shiner football offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach and head boys track coach Randy Palmer is returning to his roots.Palmer was recently named the head football coach at his alma mater, the Pleasanton Eagles.“I am excited to return to my hometown and serve as head football coach,” he said.

Shiner girls basketball: Shiner girls basketball wrap up season as area finalists

GIDDINGS — Shiner senior Kailey Boedeker had another banner game.She matched a season and personal-best point total of 27 points to lead Shiner to a 78-32 win over the Bartlett Lassies Feb. 10 at Giddings High School in a 2ADII bi-district playoff game.
