Shiner boys basketball: Shiner defeats Ganado, edged by WHS

WEIMAR —  The Shiner Comanches were about three or four minutes or so from pulling off the sweep against Weimar.The Comanches had the lead on the scoreboard for the  majority of the game and led by six entering the final quarter.

Shiner girls basketball: LC rally to beat Weimar; Lenehan reaches 1500 points

WEIMAR — Late in the third quarter and trailing by nine against Weimar,  the Shiner girls made some changes to tactics and focus. It paid dividends as the Lady Comanches scored 21 straight points in a run that went into the the final quarter for a 48-38 win Jan.

Shiner girls basketball: Shiner 7th grade girls hoops wins two tournaments

Shiner 7th grade girls won all three games in their division in the Schulenburg tournament on Jan. 11, defeating St. Rose, Schulenburg and Industrial to earn first-place medals.  The following weekend in Yoakum, 7th graders bested Edna and Gonzales before facing Poth in the championship game.

The Shiner Lady Comanches junior varsity basketball team withstood an 8-6 St. Paul second-half run to hang on to a 24-21 win on Friday.Shiner led 12-9 at the end of the first quarter and scored six of 10 points in the second period for an 18-13 halftime lead.St.

Shiner football: Comanches win Padilla Polls Coaches All-state awards

Nine Comanche football players were selected for the Padilla Polls Coaches 2024 2ADII All-State Team.Being chosen for the First Team Offense were senior linemen Jared Werner and Barrett Shelton, junior lineman Cason Dement, sophomore running back Quincy Jones and senior quarterback Carson Schuette.

Shiner girls basketball: Lady Comanches split games with Flatonia, Louise

FLATONIA — The Lady Comanches’ first-period shot attempts found their mark Friday at Flatonia.Shiner scored the first nine points and led by six after eight minutes but then struggled to score and get rebounds, and were unable to score in the second quarter in a 49-33 loss to the Lady Bulldogs.

Shiner boys basketball: Comanches win two, lose one in last three district games

FLATONIA — At halftime in the return trip at Flatonia, Shiner was in the game with a 35-32 Bulldog lead.Then Flatonia freshman Jaylon Anderson took over, scoring 18 of his 20 points and getting a lot of rebounds as Flatonia won 71-58 to split the district two-game series.
