St. Paul girls basketball went 2-1 in their first three games of the 2024-25 season.St. Paul 74, NBC 30With 23 points from Kristen Cerny, the Lady Cardinals basketball team won their first game  74-30 against New Braunfels Christian Nov. 22 at home.

The Shiner Lady Comanches only had six total players available for their varsity game at St. Paul.That fact did not seem to affect the Lady Comanches’ play.“We did pretty good for only having six players.

The state semifinalist Shiner Lady Comanches had two players win special awards to highlight 27-2A All-District awards.Senior Morgan Lenehan was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year and freshman Paisly Wallace was selected as Co-Newcomer of the Year.

Shiner football: Shiner shuts down Junction 27-0 to claim regional championship

SAN ANTONIO — A stifling defense and a clock-eating offense proved to be a stellar combination for Shiner.The Comanches nabbed the 2ADII Region IV championship by shutting down a potent Junction offense.

Shiner football: Shiner takes on Junction for regional title

The Shiner Comanches return to the regional final for the first since 2021. They will battle the Junction Eagles at 7 p.m. today at Heroes Stadium in San Antonio.The last time the teams met was in the 2008 post season in the Class 1ADI regional round with the Eagles winning 21-14.

The Shiner Lady Comanches junior varsity team defeated Edna and Hallettsville in recent action.Shiner 38, Edna 18Lexi Boner and Harlee Sevcik each scored 10 points as Shiner defeated the Cowgirls 38-18 on Nov. 23.Shiner led 15-4 after one quarter and was ahead 24-11 at halftime.

The Cardinals’ second game with Bryan Brazos Christian went a lot like the first game.The Eagles scored plenty of points; the Cardinals did not.Brazos Christian beat St. Paul 52-8 in the TAPPS IV regional round Nov. 23 at Hippo Stadium in Hutto.
