History of Telegraph Service in Texas

Maurin Knesek chosen to attend sports medicine camp this summer

St. Paul High School Junior, Maurin Knesek, was chosen by Houston Methodist Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Sugar Land, to receive one of their student trainer summer camp scholarships to attend a sports medicine camp this summer.

Mikes celebrates 25 years of service at YCH

Shari Mikes celebrated 25 years of service at Yoakum Community Hospital on May 7. She started her career at Yoakum Community Hospital (YCH) in 1998 as a Med/Surg Charge Nurse. In 1999, she transitioned to Surgical Services Coordinator and in 2004 became the Director of Surgical Services.

The future of agriculture is promising! Navidad Valley CattleWomen recently awarded $12,000 to eleven area youth whose futures will impact the beef industry in a big way. All applicants were high school seniors from Fayette, Colorado and Lavaca counties with an interest in agriculture.

Ryan Kapavik will do something that no Shiner St. Paul graduate has ever done before when he becomes the school’s first to accept the Catholic Rites of Ordination—the final step becoming a priest—in a special mass taking place at the Our Lady of Victory Cathedral in Victoria at 10 a.m.

When telephones came to Texas

Shiner Catholic School students advance to PSIA State Academic meet

Nineteen students from Shiner Catholic School are headed to TCU in Fort Worth on May 6 to compete in the 2023 PSIA State Academic Meet.
