Shiner Rotary Club holding Election Day pancake breakfast

The Shiner Rotary Club is getting ready for another Election Day Pancake breakfast on Tuesday, November 8 from 6:30 - 8 a.m. at the Shiner Methodist Church Activity Center. Breakfast will include pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee for $5. You may dine in or take your plate to go.

The Forgotten Freak Show

Thrill seekers can test their courage with the county’s most harrowing freak show at the Lavaca Swimming Pool this Saturday, Oct. 29, from sundown until 10 p.m. For only $1, guests can brave the second annual haunted house organized by Bob Barrera and other fear enthusiasts.

Rodeo Arena Benefit Playday set Oct. 29

Prepare your Halloween costume and dust off those old boots; local rodeo enthusiasts organized an event to “bring rodeo back to Yoakum” and raise funds to improve the town’s aging arena.   The Yoakum Rodeo Arena Benefit Playday will kick off Saturday, Oct.

Free Halloween Fun at Library in Yoakum

  Everyone is invited to a Halloween Spooktacular on Friday, Oct. 28 from 6–8:30/9 p.m. at the Carl and Mary Welhausen Library in Yoakum.  This Free event will provide you and your family with loads of fun, laughter, and time together.

Zappe reclaims the throne

  Local sharpshooter Joe Zappe outperformed stiff competition to claim his third King of the Feast title at the Appelt’s Hill Gun Club 140th annual October King Feast on Sunday.
