Crash calls for rescue, air evac

A major accident on FM 1680 at 1680A just outside Moulton had traffic down to one lane and first responders working hard to get the victim free in a single car crash that occurred in that town on Saturday afternoon.

Moulton Volunteer Fire Department deployed the Jaws of Life to extricate the vehicle’s single occupant, before moving the rescue efforts from the roadside to Moulton City Park, where they set up a landing zone for PHI Air Medical in Columbus.

There paramedics handed over care of the patient to the flight team, who then flew to a city hospital to complete the care package begun here in Lavaca County.

In addition to Moulton Fire, Lavaca County EMS and PHI, Saturday’s accident also brought in crews from Moulton PD, Lavaca County Sheriff ’s Office, Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Lavaca County OEM.
