Major League Softball advances to Finals

EL CAMPO – With the aid of five errors, the Hallettsville Major League All-Stars moved into the finals of the Texas East State Tournament with a 7-3 victory over Columbus Sunday night.

Paelyn Etzler continued her amazing pitching with 12 strikeouts in tossing a two-hitter and a complete game. She walked five and the only Columbus run was earned.

Hallettsville put up a big five-spot on the score board in the bottom of the second inning with the aid of three errors.

Kenley Sevcik was safe on an error and scored on a triple by Lynley Kallus. Amryn Etzler and Morgan Felcman reached base on errors and Reese Sklar hit into a fielder’s choice to score Kallus. Blair Ranly Got in two runs with a fielder’s choice.

Hallettsville scored its final two runs in the sixth frame.

Kallus led off with a base hit and Amryn Etzler was free-passed. Morgan Felcman was safe on a miscue and Sklar singled in a run and ditto for Ranly.

Kallus had two hits and Macyn Wimberly one as Hallettsville had five in all.

Columbus, who left seven runners on base, scored its run in the first inning.

H’ville 2, Silsbee 0

Paelyn Etzler struck out 15 and allowed no hits in 5.1 innings of relief in the 2-0 victory over Silsbee Friday.

Etzler struck out the side in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings. She pitched around a leaf-off walk in the sixth inning, one of four she issued.

Sislbee's Kaleigh Randon matched Etzler pitch-for-pitch and allowed only three hits and fanned five.

Hallettsville scored its first run in the third inning.

Chloe Grahmann was safe on a throwing error, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Chloe Grahmann and came across on a double to center field by Lynley Kallus.

With one out in the fourth inning, Blair Ranly beat out an infield hit. Heidi Grahmann laid down a sac bunt and Ranly ended up scoring on an error.

Etzler had a leadoff double in the fifth inning, but was left stranded.
