Yoakum cross country: Martinez runs Saturday morning at state

Gisela Martinez is scheduled to run in the  UIL state meet this Saturday at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock around 8:30 am. This will be Martinez’s fourth trip to the state meet, having been part of the Lady Bulldogs state teams in 2019, 2020 and 2021.

Yoakum football: Bulldogs finish regular season at home to Hallettsville

The Yoakum Bulldogs close out the season at home with county rival Hallettsville Brahmas. With last week’s 41-6 win over Hempstead, Yoakum has wrapped up at least fourth place and a spot in the  playoffs.

Yoakum volleyball: Playoffs start tomorrow

Yoakum will take on San Antonio Great Hearts Northern Oaks in the 3A bi-district round at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow (Nov. 1) at Luling High School.

Yoakum volleyball: Lady Dogs crush Palacios 3-0

Yoakum wrapped up the regular season with a 25-9, 25-10, 25-5 win over Palacios at home on Oct. 25 and secured second place in district.

Yoakum football: Bulldogs face Hempstead this week

The Yoakum Bulldogs play their final regular-season away game with a trip to Hempstead this week. “We are looking forward to playing a team that is no in the top 10,” Yoakum head coach Bo Robinson said. The Bobcats have struggled this year so far with a 1-7 record and are 0-2 in district play.

Following the regional meet, Yoakum will have one competitor at the state cross country meet. Boys The Yoakum boys came in No. 16 in the team standings at the Region IV-3A championships on Tuesday. Clayton Hlavac was No. 77 in 19 minutes, 5.52 seconds and had a pace of 6:10 a mile.

Yoakum football: Columbus uses big second half to defeat Bulldogs

By Alvin Gomez/Special to the Herald-Times The Yoakum Bulldogs welcomed the Columbus Cardinals last Friday night for a District 12-3A contest. The Bulldogs played tough and kept the score close going into halftime only down 14-6, but Columbus was able to pull away for a 35-12 victory.

For only the second time in district, the Lady Bulldogs came up short, falling to Columbus, who also dealt the Yoakum their first district loss, 25-17, 18-25, 25-22, 26-24.
