Yoakum football: Bulldogs return to action in home game against Columbus

Fresh off their bye week, Yoakum  returns to district action as they face another big test in the Columbus Cardinals. “It was a nice bye week. We needed it about four weeks ago but it was good to get a bye,” Yoakum head coach Bo Robinson said. Columbus is scoring 45.

Yoakum cross-country: Bulldog runner regional schedule

The Yoakum boys cross country team will run at the Region IV meet next Tuesday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi with the chance to make the state meet as a team. The Bulldogs will run the 3A boys 5K around 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The Yoakum boys earned runner up at district and will compete at the regional meet as a team for the first time since 2017. Yoakum also went in 2016, which was head coach Dennis Muehlstein’s first year as coach. Varsity Girls The Lady Bulldogs placed fourth as team, scoring 81 points.

After a rough non-district schedule that saw the Bulldogs go 2-4, Yoakum now starts district play this week. They will travel to Hitchcock who is undefeated on the year, started off by a 49-12 win over 2ADI powerhouse Refugio. Hitchcock scores 45 points a game and yields 20.3 points a contest.

Yoakum football: Pirates plunder Yoakum with second-half scores
