Yoakum Football: Bulldogs in Cameron Yoe for second straight road gam

The Yoakum Bulldogs are on the road for the second straight week and head up north to Cameron Yoe. Yoakum is looking to even its season record after a close game at Industrial where it fell short 25-20. Yoe won its opener, a 71-35 rout of Lago Vista.

Yoakum football: Bulldogs open at Industrial

The Yoakum Bulldogs kick off the 2022 season with a trip out to Industrial to face down the Cobras. The Cobras return 16 lettermen and seven starters from their 11-3 regional finalist 2021 team and are slated for a runner-up finish in 15-3AD).

Yoakum posted a 3-5 record last weekend in the Schulenburg Tournament. Pool D Play (Thursday) The Lady ‘Dogs went 1-2 in Pool play on Thursday. Yoakum fell to Schulenburg in two sets, 25-22, 25-17. In their second match, they lost to Brazos 25-23, 25-21.

The Yoakum cross-country team started the season with a home meet on Saturday. The varsity girls were the highlights with a third-place finish Varsity Girls The Lady Bulldogs recorded 92 points to win the team Bronze. Gisela Martinez led Yoakum with fifth place in 9 minutes, 58 seconds.

Yoakum volleyball: Lady 'Dogs win at Luling 3-0

LULING —  The Lady Bulldogs won the first two sets pretty convincingly before rolling up their sleeves in the third game. The Lady ‘Dogs beat Luling in three games (25-15, 25-13, 25-19) Aug. 16 in Luling. “We were very intense for sets one and two,” Yoakum head coach Kayla Natho said.

Yoakum football: Bulldogs recover from nervous start in La Vernia scrimmage

The Yoakum Bulldogs had some jitters last week in their first scrimmage at 4A La Vernia. “We started off a little nervous,” Yoakum head coach Bo Robinson said. “We made some mistakes. After we settled down, we were fine.” Yoakum scored four touchdowns and held the Bears to two scores.
