Board discusses new bus law, swears in Luksovsky

A new Texas law has passed stating that by 2029, every school district must have seat belts on their buses.This is a part of Senate Bill 546 which requires all Texas school buses to be equipped with three-point seat belts by Sept. 1, 2029.

Moulton track and field: Ja’Michael Williams wins high jump, Audrey Swinford gets silver in discus to lead track and field at state

The Moulton track and field teams won three overall medals in the 1A division of the UIL state track and field meet on Saturday.GirlsThe Kittens tied for No. 22 with 10 points. Audrey Swinford was second in the discus with a long throw of 122 feet, 11 inches. She also threw 120-7, 112-8 and  71-8.

Moulton softball: Kittens blank Spurger 27-0 in softball regional final

The Kittens raced to the regional title with 16 hits and took advantage of 14 errors to defeat Spurger 27-0 in the regional final on Thursday.The Kittens will play Brookeland in the state semifinals today at 6 p.m. in New Caney (21580 Loop 494, New Caney).

The Kittens softball team captured the regional-semifinal title with a 10-4 win over Leakey on Friday.Moulton led 2-0 after one inning and scored one run in the second inning. Both teams scored two runs in the third.

Moulton baseball: Katz nine sweep Runge 20-10, 12-9 in bi-district round

The Moulton baseball team swept Runge in the bi-district round, 20-10 and The Katz were scheduled to start the area-round series against Knippa yesterday in Somerset. The second game will be tomorrow at 5 p.m in Jourdanton and game three, if needed, will be 30 minutes after game two.

The Moulton track and field team will send one relay team and four athletes in five individual events to the state meet after the regional meet last week in Seguin.Audrey Swinford won the discus, and Ja’Michael Williams won the high jump and triple jump.

MISD approves 2026-27 school year calendar

The Moulton Independent School District board members approved the calendar for the 2026-27 school year at the April 8 meeting.“When we began the year, one of the things that we wanted to talk to as a board was that we needed to focus on our academics,” MISD Superintendent Clay Currier said.

The Kittens softball shut out Bloomington 25-0 on April 7 and Louise 16-0 on April 14 to close out the regular season.Moulton 25, Bloomington 0The Kittens scored 16 runs in second inning for a quick 25-0 win over the Lady Wildcats.
