Fireworks still erupting over St. John show

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office has turned to the public for information about what could have proven an extremely dangerous stunt pulled at the St. John Picnic fireworks display held this part Fourth of July.

Parishioners lift their voices in song for the day’s centennial celebration in Shiner. Aside from the vast arches of that ceiling and remarkable colors throughout, I particularly like having captured that painting, way back there above the choir loft. With so much else to fill your eye in this place I’m betting that has to be one of the most underappreciated works in the whole building.

45th annual Moulton Royalty Pageant takes place Sunday

The Moulton Chamber of Commerce will host its 45th annual Royalty Pageant starting at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 24, at the American Legion Hall.
This year’s event features seven young ladies and two young men, all competing to represent Moulton as the town’s newest royalty and junior ambassadors.

The University of Houston-Victoria has released the names of undergraduate students who made its spring 2022 President’s and Deans’ lists.
The President’s List honors undergraduates who earn a 4.0 grade-point average on all work completed during the spring semester.

Connected Nation released broadband survey findings

Representatives from the nonprofit Connected Nation met with several local and regional officials in Cuero last week for the much-anticipated release of the group’s broadband internet survey findings, having completed their surveys earlier this year in both Lavaca and DeWitt counties.
