The Guadalupe Valley Electric Co-Op (GVEC) awarded the Hallettsville Independent School District a Power Up grant, which went toward lighting the parking lot on the east side of the Hallettsville High and Elementary School campuses. The grant allowed the district to install LED lights to the parking lot. The LED lighting helps light up the entire parking lot and enables the district to reach one of its strategic goals to provide safe, efficient and appropriate educational facilities to the school community.

GVEC Power Up Grant allows HISD to light parking lot

As a result of Hallettsville Independent School District receiving a Guadalupe Valley Electric (GVEC) Co-Op power up grant, the district was able to complete the lighting of the parking lot located east of the Hallettsville High and Elementary school campuses.

Falling Leaves Gala Saturday

The annual Falling Leaves Gala will take place Saturday at the Hallettsville Knights of Columbus Hall in Hallettsville.The Gala will start at 5:30 p.m. and end at 11:30 p.m. with only 300 tickets sold for the event.Tickets are $125 per couple or $62.

In-person early voting begins Monday

The long awaited election is finally on us as voters will begin to cast their ballot for president of the United States and other important races.Starting Monday, Oct. 21, registered voters in Lavaca County can start casting their ballot at the Annex Building at 412 N. Texana St. in Hallettsville.

HPD makes arrest in City Park

The Hallettsville Police Department conducted an arrest in the City Park Thursday morning, Oct. 1 regarding a subject allegedly taking car keys away from a driver of a car.According to a report from HPD, officers were dispatched to the city park around 10:14 a.m.

District holding town hall meetings on proposed bond

A small group of Hallettsville Independent School District voters attended last Wednesday evening’s (Oct. 2) town hall meeting regarding the bond proposed by the district concerning the construction of a new gymnasium/multi-purpose facility.

Yoakum African American Cemetery finishes project

The Yoakum Economic Development Corporation (YEDC) approved the release of funds to the Yoakum Memorial Association in an amount not to exceed $10,000.With the funds, the Association did some much-needed work with the Yoakum Historic African American Cemetery.
