Local youth sports: Shiner junior softball wins first two sectional games

The Shiner Junior Softball team opened the section tournament on Saturday in Palacios with an 11-3 win over Needville and followed up with a 14-5 rout of the the hosts on Sunday.Shiner was scheduled to play the winner of Rockport/Palacios yesterday for the tournament championship.

Shiner sports: Shiner ISD wins post-season awards

The Shiner ISD athletic program picked up a couple of major honors following the 2025-26 school year.Shiner was named the 2026 Class 2A Texas High School Athletic Directors Association Texas Cup Champions in the inaugural year for the award.

Miscellaneous sports: Brooke Otto wins post-season awards

Congratulations to Brooke Otto, who earned Second Team All-Sunbelt Conference honors for 2026.Otto was also awarded a spot on the NFCA All-Gulf Region Team.Otto a junior, due to a season ending injury in 2025, plays third base for the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns softball team.

Youth sports: Shiner Junior softball wins district championship

The Shiner Junior softball All-Stars captured the district championship with a win over New Braunfels while Minor Softball, Major Baseball and Minor Baseball concluded their seasons.

Local youth sports:Shiner Stars 14U baseball earns regional NIT championship

Shiner Stars 14U brought home the championship from the PG Houston Super Regional NIT May 22-24. This group showed up in every phase of the game. Pitching and defense were locked in all weekend, and the bats did their job too.

Shiner Little League teams were in action last week and over the weekend.Junior SoftballShiner defeated Poth 14-3 on Friday to start off the tournament.Avery Colman drove in four runs on three hits to lead Shiner at the plate.
