Matt Christopher Benton

Matt Christopher Benton, age 64, went on to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Jan. 29, 2024.   He was born Sept. 13, 1959 to Vivian Neufeldt and Arthur Lee Benton in Richmond.   He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Timothy Benton.

Ella Mae Bludau

Ella Mae Bludau of Hallettsville passed away on February 11, 2024, at the age of 92, following a long-term battle with Parkinson's Disease.  She was born on the family’s homeplace, on September 7, 1931, to the late Roman F. & Eleanora (Klekar) Rainosek.

Kenneth Lee Jurica

On February 14, 2024, Heaven got a new angel. Kenneth Lee Jurica, a resident of Burleson, finished his work here.   Ken was born on August 25, 1945 in Shiner, the only son of Felix and Vlasta Baros Jurica. Ken grew up and worked on the family farm. He attended Shiner High School.

Frances M. Moore

Frances Marie Moore, 89, of Shiner, passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday, February 8 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville, with Msgr. John Peters officiating.

Lupe L. Trevino

Lupe L. Trevino, 80, of Clute, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 31, 2024. He was born on October 31, 1943, in Shiner, to Lorenzo C. Trevino and Concepcion Mendez Trevino. Lupe grew up on the Green-Dickson Farm in Shiner, where his parents were share-croppers.

Loraine McLerran

Loraine McLerran, 94, joined her heavenly family on Saturday, Jan. 27, 2024. She was born Oct. 26, 1929, in Beaumont to Henry and Alphra (Myers) Burns. Loraine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was married to Lt Cdr.

Margaret Ann ‘Peggy’ Mendel

Margaret Ann “Peggy” Mendel, 71, passed away on Monday, Jan. 15, 2024. She was born on Feb. 2, 1952, in Shiner, and was the youngest daughter of Joe F. and Elsie Steffek.

RogerWilliam Wulf, 81, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 8 at the Knights of Columbus Annex in Hallettsville.

Jane Marie Todd

Jane Marie Todd, 62, of Hallettsville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024, at her home in Vienna, surrounded by her husband, Jerry Wayne Todd, and two adored fur babies. Jane was a beautiful soul, with a contagious laugh and endless smile.
