General election is Tuesday, Nov. 5

All 11 voting precincts open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; early voting ends Friday

After what seems like years of candidates campaigning, voters will go to the polls Tuesday, Nov. 5 to vote for the president of the United States.

Also found on this year’s ballot are a number of other contested races on both the federal and state level as well as a proposed bond election by Hallettsville ISD to construct a new gymnasium/ multipurpose facility. In local county elections all candidates are unopposed.

This year’s election for U.S. president and vice-president, include Republican nominees Donald J. Trump and J.D. Vance and Democrat nominees Kamala Harris and Tim Walz as well as Libertarian Party nominees Chase Oliver/Mike ter Maat and Green Party candidates Jill Stein/Rudolph Ware.

In the race for U.S. Senator, incumbent Republican Ted Cruz facing off against Democrat challenger Colin Allred and Libertarian Ted Brown.

The United States Representative, District 27 will have incumbent Republican Michael Cloud running against Democrat Tanya Lloyd.

Also, contested races on the ballot include the election of Texas Railroad Commissioner, several Justices for Texas Supreme Court, judges for Court of Criminal Appeals.

In the race for Texas State Representative, District 30, Republican Party nominee A.J. Louderback and Democrat Party nominee Stephanie R. Bassham are vying for that position.

Regarding county elections, all positions on the ballot are uncontested and include James Reeves (attorney), Steven E. Greenwell (sheriff), Deborah A. Sevcik (tax assessor/collector), Tammy Koerth (treasurer), Edward Pustka (commissioner Pct. 1), James Foster (JP, Pct. 1) and Mike Buchanek (constable, Pct. 1).

Hallettsville Independent School District voters will vote on Proposition A that includes the wording on the ballot: “The issuance of $25,956,000 building bonds for the construction, renovation and equipment of athletic facilities in the district including a new gymnasium/ multi-purpose facility and levying and imposition of taxes sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on the bonds and the costs of any credit agreements, this is a property tax increase. “

Vysehrad ISD voters is having an election of four Board of Trustee members including incumbents Alice Janak (Place 2) and Mike Michalec (Place 7), who are uncontested.

Regarding contested VISD board races, incumbent Agnes Greer and Stacie Janak-Oates will vie for the Place 3 chair, while Liz Baker will face incumbent Laura Roberson.

Yoakum ISD voters will have a decision that includes: “Ratifying the ad valorem tax rate of $1.00059 in Yoakum ISD for the current year, a rate that will result in an increase of 1.65 percent in maintenance and operations tax revenue for the district for the current year as compared to the preceding year, which is an additional $857,208.”

All 11 polling precincts will be open on Tuesday from 7 a.m to 7 p.m. and registered voters can cast their ballot at their respective voting precinct, which includes the physical address of the polling location:

• Pct. 102 — Senior Citizens Center, 326 S. La Grange St., Hallettsville.

• Pct. 208 — Moravia Parish Hall – 11175 FM 957, Schulenburg.

• Pct. 309 — Shiner Baptist Church, 120 West 15th St., Shiner.

• Pct. 311 — Sweet Home Community Center, 348 CR 391, Sweet Home .

• Pct. 416 — Hope Community Hall – 122 CR 413A, Yoakum.

• Pct. 119 — Vienna Baptist Church – 2767 CR 125, Hallettsville.

• Pct. 223 — Moulton Community Center, 102 Veteran’s Dr., Moulton.

• Pct. 329 — Hoffie & Lank Wolters Public Library Cultural Center, 115 E. Wolters/2nd St., Shiner.

• Pct. 430 — Yoakum Methodist Church – 1026 E. Gonzales, Yoakum.

• Pct. 231 — Lavaca County Courthouse Annex, 412 N. Texana St., Hallettsville.

In-person early voting continues through the remainder of this week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lavaca County Annex Building at 412 N. Texana St. in Hallettsville.

Early voting ends Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m.
