Shiner football: Comanches win spots on TSWA Blue Bell 2A All-State 2022 team

Shiner senior defensive back/running back and Texas A&M committ Dalton Brooks won Co-Defensive Player of the Year for the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 2A All-State Team. Brooks had 120 tackles and five interceptions for the Comanches who went 11-3.

St. Paul boys basketball: St. Paul taken down by Indians 57-39

Trent Brown netted 12 points and two triples, and Joseph Twyford recorded 11 points and one tres as the Cards fell to Sacred Heart 57-39 Friday in Hallettsville. The Indians took control in the first frame with a 17-4 run and outscored St. Paul 14-13 in the second period.

The Shiner Lady Comanches christened the final home match of seniors Haley Patek, Alyson Mraz and Megan Winkenwerder with a 53-33 win over Schulenburg on Friday to improve to 11-0.

Shiner boys basketball: Shiner defeats Shorhorns 58-48

Shiner had a good first quarter in its 58-48 win over Schulenburg on Friday. The Comanches took a 16-8 lead in the first frame and each team scored a dozen points in the second quarter for 28-20 Comanche lead.

Shiner baseball: Alumni game will be Feb. 18

The Shiner Alumni baseball will be held on 2 p.m. Feb. 18 at Green-Dickson Park. Warmups start at 1 and the pre-game introduction of the alumni will be at 1:45.

Shiner boys basketball: Flatonia pulls away from Shiner in second half

FLATONIA — In the second district game against Flatonia,  the Comanches gave the Bulldogs a lot to handle. Especially in the first half as Flatonia led just 27-24 at halftime but went on a 41-28 run in the second half to down Shiner 68-52 Jan. 31 in Flatonia.

FLATONIA— Playing in Flatonia is never an easy task for the Lady Comanches. Shiner met that challenge head on to deliver a 50-35 win over the Lady Bulldogs on Jan. 31 and that victory improved Shiner to 10-0 in district and sealed up the district championship and No. 1 playoff seed.

Shiner football: Comanches pick up more post-season awards

Several Shiner football players made the Padilla Poll Coaches All-State Team. Senior Dalton Brooks was named Offensive Player of the Year;  Senior Ryan Peterson was chosen for First Team Special Teams and Second Team Offense.
