St. Paul High School Robotics Team making strides

The St. Paul High School Robotics Team #19877 traveled to Buda on Saturday, Feb. 4 for the FIRST Robotics semi-regional playoff competition.  The team walked away with their top score of the season - 127 points.

Lavaca Co. 4-H Photography Contest attracts 187 entries

The 2022-23 Lavaca County 4-H Photography Contest had 187 entries with 36 members and nine Clover Kids participating. The photography contest as part of the photography project gives members the opportunity to “learn by doing.” Members become acquainted with the types and parts of the camera.

Shiner band students place well at State Competition

On Wednesday, February 8, three of the Shiner Comanche Bands’ finest members competed for a chair in the coveted All State Band. Brooke Palmer earned 12th chair trumpet, Brianna Sofka earned 3rd chair Euphonium, and Aiden Collins earned 10th chair tuba.

VCMB chili/noodle soup supper Saturday

The annual Vsetin Czech Moravian Brethren Church Chili/Noodle Soup Supper will take place Saturday. The traditional chili and noodle soup along with homemade bread, kolaches, and chicken salad sandwiches will be available starting at 5 p.m.

'Scout Sunday' celebrated

Catholic Scouts from Shiner Cub Scout Pack 231 and Boy Scout Troop 231 celebrated Scout Sunday with the Very Reverend Bryan Heyer, Deacon Joe Machacek, and parishioners at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church on Sunday, February 12.

DLSEC receives generous donation from Don G. Kaspar Foundation

The DeWitt-Lavaca Special Education Cooperative (DLSEC) received a generous $5,000 donation from the Don G. Kaspar Foundation to help pay for fencing around the RISE playground.  The new fencing was installed by J. Mark Threadgill & Company.
