2024 election sets new local record turnout of voters

At the Monday, Nov. 25 Commissioners’ Court meeting, Lavaca County election administrator Tenia Hudson presented the voting results from the election held in early November.According to Hudson, the county had a phenomenal voter turnout with a total of 10,533 casting a ballot.

In-person early voting begins Monday

The long awaited election is finally on us as voters will begin to cast their ballot for president of the United States and other important races.Starting Monday, Oct. 21, registered voters in Lavaca County can start casting their ballot at the Annex Building at 412 N. Texana St. in Hallettsville.

Yoakum run-off election results

The results are in for the Yoakum City Council elections. For Yoakum City Council, there were two open spots for Place 2 and Place 4. Winning the spot for Place 2 is Daniel Driskell. He received 208 votes while his opponent, Jay Cassell, received 196 votes.

Yoakum run-off election begins Saturday

The run-off election for the Yoakum City Council begins this Saturday, June 15.Council approved the election at the May 14 City Council meeting. Those running include Place 4 candidates Mitchell Franz and Vanita Cheeves and Place 2 candidates Daniel Driskell and Jay Cassell.

District voters approve two HISD bond propositions

Hallettsville Independent School District voters passed Propositions A and B of the proposed 2024 bond, approving $11.1 million for safety and security upgrades at every campus and expansion and renovation of the junior high.
