Local cross country:Cross-country teams open in Yoakum

St. Paul and Shiner ISD cross-country teams ran in their first meet Saturday at the Yoakum Invitational. St. Paul Both St. Paul girls and boys opened the season with top 10 finishes. Varsity Girls The Lady Cardinals scored 199 points for eighth place. Top St.

Shiner volleyball: Shiner wins Silver Bracket in Schulenburg

The Shiner Lady Comanches volleyball team went 5-3 and won the Silver Bracket Championship last Thursday through Saturday in the Schulenburg Championship. Pool A Shiner went 2-1 on the first pool play day Thursday, coming in second in Pool A.

Shiner volleyball: LC win home opener vs Edna

The Shiner Lady Comanches volleyball team beat 3A Edna in three, 25-18, 25-22, 25-10 at home Aug. 15. Meghan Blaschke had 10 assists, two digs, one kill; Callie Sevcik added five digs, three kills, two assists, two blocks.

Shiner football: Comanches get after Burton in final scrimmage

Shiner volleyball: Shiner opens season with win, loss against Gonzales, Yoakum

YOAKUM — The Shiner volleyball played its first two matches in a tri-match against Yoakum and Gonzales in Yoakum on Aug. 8. Shiner split, defeating the Lady Apaches 3-1 and lost to Yoakum in a sweep. At the start of the regular season, Shiner is working on lineups and substitutions.
The Shiner Lady Comanches went 4-1 and placed second in the Shiner Tournament. Rylee Vancura and Chelsea Whiddon both won a spot on the All-Tournament team. Shiner volleyball:Lady Comanches win second at home tournament

The Shiner Lady Comanches finished second overall in their home tournament last weekend, falling to Yoakum in their second matchup in less than seven days. Seniors Rylee Vancura and Chelsea Whiddon were named to the All-Tournament Team.
