The Shiner volleyball program will host the annual Shiner Lady Comanche Volleyball Tournament Friday and Saturday. There will be pools A and B; pool A will consist of Shiner, Gonzales, Hallettsville and Stockdale; pool B will be Flatonia, Industrial, Hallettsville Sacred Heart and Yoakum.

The Shiner Comanches return just five starters, three offensive and two defensive, but still have a shot at making the fourth round. Football publication Dave Campbell’s Texas Football predicts Shiner to advance to its fourth straight appearance in the  state quarterfinals of 2ADI.

Five members of the Class 2A state runner up Shiner Comanche baseball team won places on the Blue Bell/Texas Sports Writers Association (TSWA) All-State team. Senior Ryan Peterson was chosen as First Team Pitcher. Sophomore Carson Schuette made First Team Second Baseman.

Shiner grad Cameron Cowan had an outstanding junior season of 2023 for University of Houston-Victoria softball team. She earned Pitcher of the Week three separate times and set the UHV record in shutouts while also posting a career best wins with 17.
