Shiner baseball: Comanches allow zero runs in sweep of Weimar

ALTAIR — The Shiner Comanches swept Weimar in the regional quarterfinals at Rice High School with solid pitching and defense, and late-game runs in both games. The Comanches won 7-0 on Thursday before completing the series in a 2-0 win on Saturday.

Shiner girls golf: LC place fifth at state

The Shiner Lady Comanches golf team came in fifth  place in their first-ever trip to the state tournament as a team. There were 150 teams in 2A in the state at the start of the season. The tournament was held at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin.

Shiner track and field: Lady Comanches sets new school record in mile-relay at state meet

The Shiner girls and boys track teams concluded the season Friday at the UIL state track meet at Mike A. Meyers Stadium at the University of Texas at Austin. Girls The 400-meter relay team of Brinley Ramirez, Rylee Vancura, Lauren Faldyn and Jaleah Curtis earned fourth place with a time of 49.

Shiner track and field: Shiner state track meet schedule

The Shiner Lady Comanches and Comanches track and field team wrap up the season at the UIL state meet this Friday in five events. Dalton Brooks gets things started as he will compete in the long jump at 9 a.m. Kailey Boedeker is scheduled to throw the shot put at 12:30 p.m.

Shiner cross country: Gipson to run cross country, try hand at cross-country skiing next year

Shiner cross-country runner Gavyn Gipson is obviously very familiar with cross-country running. What he is not as familiar with is cross-country skiing. Next school year at college, he will get that very opportunity by attending private school Northland College in Ashland, Wis.

Shiner baseball: Comanches sweep Trojans

The Comanches opened the playoffs by rolling Charlotte 13-0, 11-1 in a sweep Friday at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. Shiner 13, Charlotte 0 (Game 1) Drew Wenske and Ryan Peterson each scored four runs to get Shiner to a 12-0 win in five innings in the first game.
