Shiner girls golf: LC eager to do well at historical showing at state meet

Early next week will be historical for the Shiner girls golf team. The Lady Comanches came in second at regionals to qualify for the state tournament as a team for the first time in school history. Shiner has sent individual golfer Monington Clark to state in 2017 and 2019.

Shiner baseball: Columbus edges Comanches in warmup game

The Shiner Comanches had their chances but did not fully capitalize. Shiner hosted 3A Columbus on Friday evening in a playoff warm up game. The Cardinals held on for a 3-2 win in a full game. Columbus outhit Shiner 6-4 with a pair of doubles but did not ever put Shiner away.

Shiner track and field: Dalton Brooks sets regional record in long jump

The Shiner Lady Comanches finished in the top three Friday and Saturday at the regional meet in Kingsville while the boys came in fifth place and Dalton Brooks set a regional record in the long jump with 23 feet, 8 3/4 inches and won the event.

Shiner softball: Lady Comanches sweep Sabinal

MARION — The Shiner softball team played the first round of the playoffs like any other game: with focus and determination. The Lady Comanches swept through the bi-district series against Sabinal, winning 31-1 and 18-0 Thursday afternoon and evening in Marion.

Shiner Junior high track: Shiner wins three team titles at district TF meet

Shiner junior high track teams won first place in three of four divisions at the district meet April 3 in Weimar. 7th Girls The Lady Braves squeezed past Weimar 220-217 to win the team title. 100 — 2nd, Reagan Horn, 13.56; 3rd, Paisly Wallace, 13.56; 4th, Riley Fluitt, 13.85.

Shiner baseball: Comanches beat WHS 7-3

The Shiner Comanches, with a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the third, scored four runs to pull away from Weimar and won 7-3. Drew Wenske and Landyn Pohler each had one home run, and Ryan Peterson and Bryce Nerada got a double.

Addy Siegel got four hits, two doubles, brought in two runs and scored three to lead Shiner to a 14-4 win over Marion April 18 in Marion as the Lady Comanches began preparing for the upcoming playoffs.
