Three  Comanches received special awards  to headline the 2023 2A state runner up Shiner’s 29-2A All-District awards. Seniors Ryan Peterson (pitcher/infielder) and Drew Wenske (infielder/pitcher) were chosen as Co-MVPs and freshman Landyn Pohler (outfielder) was named Newcomer of the Year.

Shiner baseball: Comanches give it all but fall short in state title game

ROUND ROCK —The 2023 Shiner senior group has concluded nearly all of their high-school seasons at the state tournament. Save for their freshman year in 2020 in which the season was cancelled before the playoffs due to the COVID19 pandemic.

Shiner baseball: Comanches earn third straight trip to state baseball

MARION — Shiner qualified for the state baseball meet for the third straight season and earned the 2023 Region IV-2A championship with a sweep of Johnson City (5-2, 1-0) Thursday and Friday in Marion. “Going to state feels amazing.

Shiner baseball: Wenske signs with UTPB to play college baseball

A teammate on a youth baseball team has helped Comanche senior Drew Wenske find a college home to continue playing baseball. Wenske signed with University of Texas Permain Basin on May 23 to continue his baseball playing days past high school.

Shiner baseball: Shiner into regional final with sweep of Mumford

LA GRANGE — The Shiner baseball team will advance to its third straight regional final after defeating Mumford 4-0 and 9-2 in the regional-semifinal series May 24 and 27 in La Grange. Shiner will play Johnson City in a best-of-three series in the regional final. Game one will be at 7 p.m.

Shiner softball: Weimar rallies to stop LC from advancing to state

After earning a close win over Weimar in the regional-final series opener last Thursday, Shiner came up short in both games on Saturday as Weimar rallied in both to win the series 2-1 to advance to the state title.
