LA GRANGE —The Shiner Comanches baseball secured a second straight trip to the state tournament with a tough series against Mumford Wednesday and Thursday in La Grange.
The Comanches won the first game in a 1-0 pitcher’s duel on Wednesday and took care of business 3-2 on Thursday.

The Shiner Comanches will play Mumford in a best-of-three regional final series. All games will be at La Grange HS Baseball Field. Game one will be tomorrow (June 1) at 7 p.m. Game 2 will be at 7 on Thursday (June 2) and Game 3, if needed, will be at 7 on Friday (June 3).

VICTORIA — The Shiner Comanches outhit Kenedy 21-5 and outscored them 18-3 to sweep the Lions in the regional semifinals Wednesday and Thursday at Victoria’s Riverside Stadium.

Shiner class of 2022 cross country and track athlete Jocelyn Moreno will continue to competitively run come a couple of months.
Moreno recently signed with McMurry University in Abilene to participate in both sports.

Shiner ISD softball camp June 6-8

The Shiner Lady Comanche Summer Softball Camp will be held June 6-8 at the high school softball field at Green Dickson Park.
The camp is for players entering in grades 1-8. Incoming Grades 1-4 will have their session from 8:30-10:30 am.
Players entering Grades 5-8 will go from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m.

The Shiner Comanches scored nine total runs and gave up one run to sweep Thorndale (1-0, 8-1) in the regional-quarterfinal series Thursday and Friday at La Grange Baseball Field.
Shiner will play Kenedy in the regional quarterfinals at Victoria Riverside Stadium.

Bailey Smith (1st Team), Megan Epley (2nd Team) and Carly Pustka (Honorable Mention) made the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA) Academic All-State Team.

Beck Bishop ties for No. 29 at state golf tournament

Shiner junior golfer Beck Bishop competed as an individual in the state tournament May 9-10 at Lion’s Municipal Golf Course in Austin. He carded a 92 on the first day and recorded a 106 on the second day for a total of 198. Bishop officially tied for 29th place in the individual standings.
