School Board Recognition Month

City of Yoakum Mayor Pro-Tem Tanya Wenzel and City Council Member Mitchell Franz recognized the Yoakum ISD School Board members with a proclamation making January School Board Recognition Month.“January is school board recognition month,” Franz said.
Forty-one Yoakum ISD FFA members traveled to Blinn College in Schulenburg Nov. 1 to compete in the Horizon District Leadership Development Events. The students competed in 14 events.

YISD FFA Agriculture Issues Team advances to Area

The Future Farmers of America Agriculture Issues Forum team at Yoakum ISD advanced from district to area. This team has been practicing hard and presenting their thesis to various organizations in the community.

Local schools to hold Veterans Day events

Several school districts in the area are preparing for Veterans Day programs on Monday, Nov. 11.The Yoakum Junior High School will be having a Veterans Day program the morning of Veterans Day.“We are planning on a having a presentation,” Yoakum Junior High Principal Gabe Adamek said.
