DOTY, Grandview too much for Lady Brahmas

AUSTIN – The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas ran into a buzz saw in the form of Madi Doty and the Grandview Zebras in the Class 3A state semifinals at Red & Charline McCombs Field Wednesday, May 29.

LB doubles team lose in opening round

SAN ANTONIO – Olivia Etzler and April Leopold lost in their opening round to Edgewood’s (located 60 miles from Dallas) Trinity Hale, 6-1, 7-6 (8) at Blossom Tennis Center Thursday.The duo went 42-4 during the season and won seven tournaments.

LB clear huge hurdle in sweep of Lady Lions

The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas advanced to the state quarterfinals after sweeping San Gertrudis Academy, 4-0 and 6-4.It was sweet revenge for the LB who lost to the Lady Lions, 5-4 and 14-12, a year ago.“We had a great defensive showing in both games,” Lady Brahma coach Callie Kresta said.

LB duo advances to State

JOURDANTON – April Leopold and Olivia Etzler advanced to state for the second year in a row with a second place finish at the Region IV-3A Tournament last week.The LB were the #2 seed coming into the tournament and were defeated by the top seed, Jourdanton in the finals 6-7, 7-5, 7-5.

LB set school record for wins in sweep of Tigerettes

COLUMBUS – The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas swept El Maton Tidehaven 12-2 and 15-1 Thursday and Friday in the regional quarterfinals.The LB set a school record for wins with 36, eclipsing the old record of 35 set in 2022.

KARNES CITY – It took two innings before the Hallettsville Lady Brahma bats got going and when they did, the rout was on.The LB defeated Natalia, 10-0, Thursday at Badger Field in a regional playoff game.

Bi-district games over the years has been a mere formality for the Hallettsville Lady Brahmas.The LB run-ruled San Antonio Cole, 10-0, here Friday before over 200 fans.Kaylie Olivarez (13-1) gave up one hit, struck out nine and walked two in the five-inning game.
