The Bulldogs host Cameron Yoe for their second straight home game. Yoakum got off to a good start with a 36-14 win over Industrial with quarterback Zach Taylor throwing for 173 yards and three touchdowns while running for another one. The Yoemen opened 2023 with a 45-21 rout of Lago Vista.

Yoakum cross country: Cross country has good meet in Industrial

The Yoakum cross-country teams ran in the Industrial meet on Saturday with two Gold team medals and a total of four top-three team finishes. Varsity Girls The Lady Bulldogs scored 116 points to place third at the meet. Gracei Martinez led Yoakum with seventh place in 14 minutes, 38 seconds.

Yoakum football: Bulldogs host Cobras in first game

Yoakum welcomes Industrial to Bulldog Stadium for the 2023 season opener. The Cobras return 27 lettermen, seven offensive and six defensive starters from 2022 where they finished 10-3 (5-1) and were regional semifinalists.

Yoakum volleyball: Yoakum gets third in Silver Bracket at Schulenburg Tournament

The Yoakum volleyball team competed in the Schulenburg Tournament last Thursday through Saturday, going 4-4.  Thursday Pool play Yoakum won two and lost one in Pool B on Thursday.

Yoakum cross country: Lady 'Dogs place fourth at home meet

The Yoakum cross-country teams ran at the Yoakum Invitational to kick off the season. Varsity Girls The Lady Bulldogs recorded 105 points to take fourth place. Gracei Martinez led Yoakum with a No. 11 finish in 10 minutes, 2.43 seconds. Angela Flores was No. 16 in 10:08.

Yoakum volleyball: Lady Bulldogs volleyball starts season with wins over Shiner, Gonzales

The Yoakum Lady Bulldogs volleyball started the season by winning their annual home tri-match with Shiner and Gonzales, taking both matches in sweeps. Yoakum head coach Kayla Natho said the Lady ‘Dogs started the tri match with not a lot of energy but improved as the matches went on.

The Yoakum Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-0 after winning the Shiner Tournament last weekend. The Lady Bulldogs won all five matches they played and lost just one set the whole tournament. Jayana Phillips and Destiny Rios earned a place on the All-Tournament Team.

The Yoakum Bulldogs football hosted La Vernia in a pre-season scrimmage last Friday. Yoakum scored three times while the Bears got the ball in the end zone twice. “We did some good things and we did some bad things,” Yoakum head coach Bo Robinson said. “It was our first action against another team.
