Shiner boys basketball: Flatonia pulls away from Shiner in second half

FLATONIA — In the second district game against Flatonia,  the Comanches gave the Bulldogs a lot to handle. Especially in the first half as Flatonia led just 27-24 at halftime but went on a 41-28 run in the second half to down Shiner 68-52 Jan. 31 in Flatonia.

Shiner girls basketball: Lady Comanches secure district title with win at Flatonia

FLATONIA— Playing in Flatonia is never an easy task for the Lady Comanches. Shiner met that challenge head on to deliver a 50-35 win over the Lady Bulldogs on Jan. 31 and that victory improved Shiner to 10-0 in district and sealed up the district championship and No. 1 playoff seed.

Shiner boys basketball: Shiner gets job done against Wildcats 50-43

After a 34-34 tie after three and trailing briefly in the fourth quarter, Shiner dug down deep. The Comanches battled and found a way to win in a 50-43 decision Jan. 24 at home against Bloomington. “They won’t all be pretty,” Shiner head coach Jeff Akin said of the Comanche win.

Shiner girls basketball: Lady Comanches scoot past Bloomington 32-13

The Shiner Lady Comanches used plenty of rebounding and defense to remain unbeaten in district. Shiner held off the Bloomington Lady Wildcats, 32-12, to complete the season sweep Jan. 24 at home.
